The DVD says:

Prom Night, 1957. Mary Lou Maloney decided to ditch her drippy date for someone cool... a deadly mistake. An act of revenge by the jilted boyfriend turns Mary's moment of glory as Prom Queen into a fiery, horrifying inferno. A stink bomb ignites her dress, drowning her in a wave of flames. Thirty years later, it's Prom time again, and the jilted date is now principal of Hamilton High. This year Vicki Carpenter is sure to be the queen, until she innocently opens a trunk hidden in the prop room containing vestiges of Mary Lou's crown, cape and... soul. From that moment on, Vicki's life turns into a nightmare of flashbacks and eerie visions. She begins to talk, dress and act like Mary Lou. Her friends think she's going crazy. They don't know that Mary Lou is back, living in Vicki, and ready for revenge.

My Opinion:

Fantastic follow up to the original Prom Night, but really a great film in it's own right which spawned the sequel Prom Night 3. With all the elements to make a horror classic, it's surprising that this film is not recognised as much as it should be. Watch out for the rocking horse and blackboard scenes which are particularly good. The DVD is completely extraless and disappoints when you consider the great movie that's on this disk.
