Five years after being murdered by a covert government agency, Al Simmons makes a pact with the devil so that he can be resurrected to see his beloved wife, Wanda one last time. In exchange, Simmons agrees to lead Hell's Army in the destruction of mankind and is reborn as Spawn. Spawn is a one-man army with chameleon-like powers. But as he begins to discover his new strengths, Spawn encounters two strange being; Cogliostro who wants Spawn to fight the devil as a champion for mankind and Clown who wants Earth's destruction. To help Spawn make up his mind, Clown enlists Jason Wynn, the man behind Simmons' death. Wynn wants to dominate the world and has the most formidable arsenal of weapons to succeed. So comes the dreadful confrontation between Wynn and Spawn with the future of mankind in their hands.

My Opinion:

Spectacular special effects make this film. Spawns armour and cloak are brilliant. This has to be the best comic book conversion so far. Clown is menacing and funny at the same time and Martin Sheen as Wynn looks like he's lost about 20 years. The film tends to squeeze too much into the start without explaining what is going on and it's not really a horror movie as such.
