The Stand (Video)

The Video says: First there was 'IT'. Then came 'The Tommy Knockers'. Now Stephen King brings to the screen a heart-stopping adaptation of his best-selling book of all time. A deadly virus is unleashed by a top-secret military lab, wiping out virtually the entire planet's population. The few lonely and terrified individuals who have somehow managed to escape the terrible pestilence, start out on a desperate quest to find other survivors. On their journey they find themselves drawn by two powerful forces - the soothing and benevolent Mother Abagail, who embodies all that is Good, and the satanic Randall Flagg, the personification of evil and corruption. Running Time: 345 mins Version: Home Video PAL Colour Certificate: 18 My Opinion: I read the book year's ago and never thought it could be brought to the big screen. When I rented it on video, I didn't expect it to be anything like the book and was surprised when it followed each chapter exactly! Very impressive and long. Nearly 6 hours in fact! Not very gruesome or gory, but then it was made for TV and Stephen King has a bigger part than usual ! |
